The Michael P Diffley Memorial Trophy Competition

12th March 2020 saw 4th competition at Pudsey Camera Club that I was eligible to enter, The Michael P Diffley Memorial Trophy Competition. This is Digital Projected image where the photographer enters up to 4 digital images each in a different category, and the photographer with the total aggregate score wins.

The available categories for the Michael P Diffley Memorial Trophy are the standard club/YPU categories of Architecture, Candid, Natural History, Photojournalism, Pictorial, Portrait,
Record, Sport, Still Life.

Due to being a rather pre-occupied with my wedding in February and also preparing 20 odd print entries for the coming season starting in September (I will be heading back to Thailand in April and would like to remain part of the club and while I can easily enter the digital compition from a distant is hard to send prints, hence I am preparing them beforehand) I quickly put together a collection of images that had already been entered in previous compition that had scored well – This is allowed under the rules of the competion however, it not something I would prefer to do under differnt circumstances.

The pictures I entered were:

Candid
Pete Walker Photography, MICHAEL P DIFFLEY MEMORIAL TROPHY
With Brazilian Beach Babe
Sports
Pete Walker Photography, MICHAEL P DIFFLEY MEMORIAL TROPHY
Metres from the Line
Pictorial
Pete Walker Photography, MICHAEL P DIFFLEY MEMORIAL TROPHY
The Light of The Night
Portrait
Pete Walker Photography, MICHAEL P DIFFLEY MEMORIAL TROPHY
Yuk Lo

The images I believe faired fairly well in the competition however, I have not received the full breakdown of marks as the club has suspended actives at the moment due to the Corona Covid-19 out break. I do know that I didn’t win the competition nor did I score a maximum 20 with any of the images. which just goes to show how judges/people can view images differently as 2 of the images about have scored 20 in previous competitions.
