For 3 glorious winters days in June 2015, spent my days wandering around the wonderful city that is Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires.
How do I introduce Buenos Aires? Its the largest city in Argentina, It’s known for it, Tango, rather eclectic European style architecture, it’s passionate about football and hosted the 1978 World Cup Finals and is the home-town Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who is better known as Pope Francis.
I have wanted to go to Buenos Aires since I saw the 1978 World Cup on the television and wasn’t disappointed. There is strong European flavour in the city and it is cirty of great contrast from the working class La Bocca and the downtown areas.
While I was there I took 3 free walking tours around the city, one to La Bocca. Home of Bocca Juniors and Tango.
Buenos Aires, La Bocca
The images above I have tried to capture the colour of La Bocca. When you arrive in the main square of La Bocca there is a little bit of a touristy feel – with Tango dancers and some dressed as Diego Maradonna for you to have your photo taken with but, once you walk away from that you are surrounded by street art.
Buenos Aires
Outside of la Bocca the European feel of Buenos aires come through, the underground feel like Paris as do the wide boulevards.
The Recoleta neighbourhood houses the famous Recoleta cemetery where Eva Peron is interred, it is amazing how much reverence there is towards Eva Peron even no close to 70 years since her death – he is still seen as an icon for the people.
Finally a few shots of Buenos Aires in Black and White
