Hi, my name is Pete
Photography has been a passion of mine for over 30 years, dating back to my teenage years. While I consider myself mostly self-taught, I earned a City & Guilds Certificate in Photography in the ’90s. After taking a break from photography for various reasons, I found new inspiration when I moved to Hong Kong in 2009, and since then, I haven’t looked back.
I primarily enjoy street and travel photography, which I was particularly drawn to by the vibrant markets and street scenes in Asia. While these sights eventually became familiar, my love for capturing unique moments on the street hasn’t diminished. Although street and travel photography are my main focus, I’m open to exploring various styles and capturing anything that catches my eye.
In recent years, I’ve been working on a “100 Strangers” project, where I take street portraits of individuals and learn a little about their stories. This project has allowed me to blend my love for photography with my curiosity about people, making it an incredibly rewarding experience.
After living in Asia for 11 years, including time spent in Hong Kong and Thailand, I returned to the UK in 2019. In 2020, I graduated with an HNC in Photography, a milestone that has helped me refine my skills and view my work from a new perspective. While I’ve always been my own toughest critic—feeling more confident in my technical abilities than my artistic expression—this qualification has given me the tools to push my photography to the next level.
Beyond photography, I have a passion for scuba diving. As a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, I love sharing this passion with new students. Interestingly, I’ve never really combined my two passions, as I’ve never considered myself a wildlife photographer. However, I recently purchased a GoPro Hero 12 and am now exploring videography to record my dives.
As I continue to explore the world through both the lens of my camera and the depths of the ocean, I’m excited to see where these passions will take me next. Whether you’re here to view my photography, learn more about my scuba diving experiences, or simply connect, I hope you find something that resonates with you. Feel free to reach out—I’m always open to new opportunities, collaborations, or even just a chat about our shared interests. Thank you for stopping by, and I look forward to connecting with you!
