Assignment 3 – The Decisive Moment
Below are a series of contact sheets featuring images I’ve been working on for the past month. You may recognize some from earlier posts, where I was exploring a collection of pictures of crowds, with mobile phones emerging as a secondary theme.
For this assignment, I want to continue my exploration of mobile phones, as I believe it’s a subject with substantial depth and relevance in today’s society. I firmly believe that we don’t have to emulate Cartier-Bresson’s geometry and patterns to create a decisive moment. A decisive moment, in my view, is one that illustrates a point or, if we’re lucky, tells a story.
I’m focusing on mobiles because they are ubiquitous in our lives—something that wasn’t even prevalent six years ago. Back then, we all had phones, but they were still just phones. iPhones were in their infancy, and we didn’t have them glued to our hands 24/7. If we wanted music, we carried an iPod; if we wanted to read, we took a book. Now, all we need is our phone.
